- How much sod is on one pallet? What is the coverage area?
- One pallet of sod is 50 yards. Each pallet has 168 pieces and covers 450 square feet.
- Do I need to fertilize new sod and how much?
- When sod leaves the grass farm it is already fertilized. Once the sod starts rooting you fertilize it if needed but usually you can wait 30 to 45 days after it is established.
- How long will the sod last on the pallet once I receive it?
- All sod should be installed within 24 hours of receiving it.
- How often do I need to water new sod and what is the best time of day?
- It helps to install sod on a moist ground. New sod needs to be watered everyday for the first week, then every two to three days after that. It is best to water in the early morning or late evening.
- How soon can I mow new sod?
- New sod can be first mowed about three weeks after installation. The first week the sod is wet, the second week the sod is firming and the third week it can be mowed.
- When is the best time to install new sod?
- The best time to install new sod is in the spring or fall season. You can install sod in the summer but it will require more water because of the heat and evaporation. You can also install new sod in the winter but it will be dormant and will come out in the spring.
